TLI Club preparing for Teen Read Week

The Teen Literacy Initiative (TLI) Club is busy getting ready for Teen Read Week at Memorial. They have many things planned including guest authors, a book exchange, and even a cappuccino bar.

Teen Read Week is Oct. 13 – 17. Although it may seem far away, they are already busy planning everything to make certain it will be perfect. Tuesday, Oct. 14, is the day for the cappuccino bar and book exchange in the library. Club members admitted they were disappointed to find out the “cappuccino” will actually be hot chocolate.

Friday, Oct. 17 is the most important day of the week. This is the day guest authors will come to Memorial to speak to students. This year’s authors are: Nickolas Butler, author of “Shotgun Lovesongs:” S.A. Bodeen, author of “Shipwreck Island;” Josh Hangaren, author of “The World’s Strongest Librarian;” Francisco X. Stork, author of “Irises;” and, Dasha Kelly, author of “Hershey.”

The authors will speak to students about their books, as well as their passion for writing and what inspires them. Their presentation conclude Teen Read Week 2014 at Memorial High School.
