Erika Patterson plans to make life add up

Erika Patterson is an 18-year-old senior. She has two older brothers named Michael and Jonathon. Jonathon is in the Air Force and is planning a post-secondary career in space technology. Michael has been taking nanotechnology classes. Patterson is planning to attend college after high school. She plans to major in math and hopes to become a math teacher someday.

She does not play any sports but she does enjoy watching football games being played at Memorial as well as watching football games at home with her family.

According to Patterson, “The best part about high school is the friends you have made and will make, sometimes some friends don’t work out, but some will stick with you when you need them the most.” Patterson said there are some great things about high school, although she had some bad things to say about high school also. “There is a lot of drama that comes along with the new friends, that is probably the worst part about high school. If you can get past all the drama and rumors that are spread at this school, then you can get through almost anything,” she said.

She also had some advice for students and incoming freshman at Memorial High School. “Always look on the brighter side of things; it will make high school a lot simpler. But if something’s don’t work out, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Remember to have fun, and enjoy these years while you can.”
