This is your chance, Memorial students, to name the class-disrupting chicken that has been living in the Old Abe Memorial Garden. The nameless rooster that announces his presence daily is the last remaining member of a small flock of chickens deposited into the Memorial Garden as a senior prank by members of the class of 2015. The rest of the flock was captured quickly and removed. The nameless rooster has eluded capture and remained to this day.

To submit a name suggestion go to the MHSPurpleWings Facebook page. Post your name requests before Friday, Oct. 16 at 3:00 p.m. Do not submit more than five school-appropriate names. The top five name nominations will be put into a poll at MHSpurplewings.org where you and the entire student body may vote to “Name that Chicken.” Support other name suggestions or offer your own all on the MHSPurpleWings Facebook page. Tell your friends. The first submitter of the name chosen by the voters at MHSPurpleWings.org will receive a fabulous prize and will be honored with a story on this website. You could be “The person who named that chicken.”

Who among us will give our infamous chicken a name to win the $10 cash prize and be the subject of a story on MHSPurpleWings.org? Get your vote on, students! Purple Wings staff are ineligible to participate; the winning name must come from a member of our student body to receive the prizes. Ties will be broken by a majority vote of the Purple Wings staff. All decisions are final.
